When I'm not going anywhere or don't feel like much makeup I use this simple routine
Cleanse my face. Usually I use a cleanse by Murad. Occasionally I switch to a facial bar like Clinque or Sometimes Caress when I want a creamy feeling.
Brush my teeth.
Apply a moisturizer. I use Clean & Clear.
Next eyecream, a gel by Avon then a concealer around the eyes. I use a concealer in a tube by Stila.
I stroke my eyebrows with an eyebrow pencil velvet black by Mabelline.
Next my lipstick and I pat on my foundation.
There was one time when I only used an oil free makeup but as I got older I found that the moisturizing foundations were fine for me.
Sometimes I just put a little blush on without the foundation and I'm ready to go.
An interesting and informative beauty site.
This is a site I refer to often. Today I got some good tips from it including nail polish. I've tried blue and green and wear it when I feel down. I also like Pantene gel. I haven't been really doing much for myself what with wrapping gifts and shopping. I think I'll try a beauty day tomorrow for myself.,
Stila has a special sale on cosmetics that's really great. Some of the favorites are less than half the regular price. I don't get all of their cosmetics but find that if some work for you keep them on your favorite list.
My regular buys are:
The concealer in the tube. It's so smooth and creamy and doesn't show. I use that without foundation sometimes and under my foundation
A must is their tinted all over color blushes. I love the pink color and the bronze. Of course when I use the bronze I just use a little or I become like a clown.
I also like their photo foundation. I often get that in a kit and get all those other goodies in the kit. It saves money,
If you can get samples before you buy I recommend that you do that.
I recently stopped in a drugstore and looked at the foundation. I decided to go back to buying like I used to. I bought two bottles of the same brand foundation and type. However one darker shade and one lighter shade. My complexion is olive so I can wear different shades usually I buy a light beige.
However I use a darker shade sometimes for a bronze look. Sometimes ifI feelthat a shade is too dark or too light I mix the two shades together in the bottle.
Your foundation a little thick not enough moisture to it? Add a little of your moisturizer to it. Sometimes putting toner on just before foundation gives it a sheerer look.
I always wait a minute after putting my foundation on before putting powder on. It lasts longer.
Sometimes I've put too much makeup on and get that cakey look or too made up then I dab a damp towel on my face.
I often get the box of total Beauty Collection samples. I like that I get to try new cosmetics out and decide if I like them enough to buy them. Also the box is only $15.00 and you don't have to get one everytime. There are some out there that are much more expensive and I understand you have to sign up to get them every month.
Well I got the Murad collection in one and became a regular buyer of them. I use the Murad age reform cleanser and I also use the skin perfecting lotion everynight. the cleanser I use in the morning. It's an exfoliater also. The moisturizer is just right for me because it moisturizes without being greasy. I just ordered a Murad skin kit. I find that it's cheaper ordering the kit than buying them one at a time.
If my hair and skin don't look good I don't. If my hair is damaged I don't look good and all the makeup in the world won't be of much help if my skin is in poor condition or not taken care of. The latest fashion outfit doesn't help no matter how much it costs.
So I know I have to skip the greasy fried foods, the fats, the sweets and not overdo it. I have to watch what I put in my body. I confess I don't always do this. For me my beauty depends a lot on the right foods, rest and exercise. A good nighst sleep works wonders for me. The eyes seem to sparkle more the eyelids don't droop, and I perk up.
I used to want a sun glow but felt that bronzers made me look like a clown. They seem to stand out on my face coming off almost red or reddish brown.
I found out through experimenting though to use less just a little in just the right places for you.
I also found out it comes off better using a brush instead of a powder puff.
I wear less makeup in the summer because of the sweltering heat. I'm more concerned about the sunscreen that protects my skin. Here's what I wear: my makeup basically. Sunscreen, a little foundation if any or tinted moisturizer, concealer around the eyes, and I just tried a tinted lipbalm by Cover Girl that i carry in my purse because my lips become extra dry. I recently received a kit by Smashbox that I ordered and I am thoroughly satisfied with it. I'll be ordering it again since the concealer photo finish foundation and a lipgloss came in it. I may be telling you more about it later.
No I am not affiliated with Smashbox,do not receive any free products for advertising but I like it and just thought I'd share this with you.
